New Workday Pre-Hire Process for Contracting a Contingent Worker
Audience: HR Partners
In an effort to create NetIDs for contingent workers more efficiently, we are tweaking the pre-hire process.
Currently, when an HR Partner runs the Contract a Contingent Worker task, they are first asked to create a pre-hire or search for an existing person. Starting now, the HR Partner will be able to search for an existing person (terminated/retired employee, student without a current CSU job, etc.), but if the person does not exist in the system yet, the HR Partner will run the Create Request task and choose “Contingent Worker Pre-Hire.” The Contract a Contingent Worker Job Aid has been updated accordingly.
The HR Partner will complete the few required questions (legal name, email address, and physical street address) and submit. An HR Administrator will review the information, double-check that the person record does not exist in the system, and then create the pre-hire record. The HR Partner will receive a notification that the record has been created and can proceed with contracting the contingent worker. To do so, search for the Pre-Hire, select related actions (the three-dot button), and choose Hire, then Contract Contingent Worker.
Having all the required information through this process will help our system integrations, identify duplicate records earlier and while it is still easy to address, and alleviate some of the NetID provisioning issues that have frustrated contingent workers and their departments.
