Workday Benefits streamlines processes for managing and updating employee benefits information. Workday Benefits stores your Benefit information for Retirement Plans, Life Insurance, and other plan elections.

Will benefits re-enrollment or elections be done through Workday?

Yes. Beginning in 2026, benefits open enrollment will be fully managed within Workday.

The role will remain at central HR.

That will continue to exist in Workday. The default option is always going to be the first of the month following when the new hire is initiated, but there is a request that can still be made through our HR Service Center or through the Workday help section of this, which is going to allow them to request that date of hire and then this new hire event that’s currently been populated will be rescinded and then we will run a date of  hire benefit where they can make their elections and then all of those benefits will begin on their date of hire instead.

ALEX will still exist as one of our benefits resources and a tool to use for employees to help make decisions. As we’re populating some of those instructional texts and more information, we’ll put some specific links to Alex directly into the system. as well, but that tool will still exist independently from Workday.

Yes, the total cost per paycheck will include any amounts that are elected by the employee.

Dependents will require a SSN, not beneficiaries. Any eligible dependents who are going to be covered on benefit plans will always be required to have a SSN that is in the system. Only beneficiaries will not require that specific information.
